Having a dual character, as some celebrate May 9 as Victory Day and others as Europe Day, this day continues to polarize society and media in Moldova. The authors of the monitoring note that, on the one hand, some sources preferred to highlight the events of Victory Day and the march organized by certain political forces. According to the author, in Moldova there is a lot of violence on TV, online and in the print media, but even more behind closed doors, which is not reported to the police for fear of stigmatization. Women are “taught” to keep quiet and put up with it so as not to spoil the family image or be blamed for “asking for it”. This phenomenon is called victim blaming and goes hand in hand with internalized misogyny. According to the author, the first skill that schools have to develop in young people in order to educate critical and flexible thinking is that of autonomy. The school can encourage and support young people to develop their own points of reference.
