{"id":51396,"date":"2025-08-08T16:39:32","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T13:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cji.md\/?p=51396"},"modified":"2025-12-12T17:00:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T15:00:09","slug":"old-rhetoric-in-new-clothes-on-tiktok-narratives-prevailing-in-the-pre-election-contest-in-the-second-half-of-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cji.md\/en\/old-rhetoric-in-new-clothes-on-tiktok-narratives-prevailing-in-the-pre-election-contest-in-the-second-half-of-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Rhetoric in New Clothes on TikTok: Narratives Prevailing in the Pre-Election Contest in the Second Half of July"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In the second half of July, the Moldovan TikTok information space abounded in a mixture of recurrent and emerging disinformation narratives relevant in the pre-election context, which aimed to undermine the public\u2019s trust in the authorities, to instill fears about involving the Republic of Moldova into the war, to question European integration issues, and to de-legitimize the elections.<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Monitoring 46<\/strong><strong>channels which belong to a number of politicians, bloggers\/influencers, and media sources, or are anonymous pages, on July<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>16-31, illustrates that, in addition to the ongoing insistent promotion of many \u201cclassic\u201d narratives, they were intensified by recent events discussed publicly, such as Vlad Plahotniuc\u2019s detention in Greece, the MEGA conference organized in Chisinau, and the decision to open a certain number of polling stations for the diaspora<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Another tendency which has already consolidated in this information space is<\/strong><strong>AI<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>integrated in generating manipulative content, which amplifies harmful impact of such narratives and makes detecting them more complicated.<\/strong><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The videos published by the 46<\/strong><strong>accounts during the two weeks of monitoring had over 55.5<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>million.<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<table width=\"0\">\r\n<tbody>\r\n<tr>\r\n<td width=\"624\">\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>WHICH CHANNELS WE MONITORED<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We analyzed the content published on <strong>46<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>TikTok accounts<\/strong> including:<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10\u00a0channels owned by politicians;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 14\u00a0channels owned by bloggers\/influencers;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 12\u00a0anonymous pages;<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10\u00a0channels owned by media outlets.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most popular accounts owned by <strong>politicians<\/strong> were Renato Usatii (over 216000\u00a0followers and 94\u00a0million\u00a0views); Igor Dodon (over 95000\u00a0followers and 27\u00a0million\u00a0views); Irina Vlah (over 73000\u00a0followers and 31\u00a0million\u00a0views), Victoria Furtuna (over 54000\u00a0followers and 15\u00a0million\u00a0views), and Vasile Tarlev (over 21000\u00a0followers and 5.8\u00a0million\u00a0views).<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The list of <strong>bloggers\/influencers<\/strong> includes Grigore Manoli (over 462000\u00a0followers and 404\u00a0million\u00a0views); Caras (over 183000\u00a0followers and 152\u00a0million\u00a0views); Sandeluu (over 168000\u00a0followers and 61\u00a0million\u00a0views), Petr online (over 78000\u00a0followers and 90\u00a0million views), and Sergiu de Moldova (over 72000\u00a0followers and 36\u00a0million\u00a0views).<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most popular <strong>anonymous pages<\/strong> are<em> @fantastic1007<\/em> (over 145000\u00a0followers and 87\u00a0million\u00a0views); <em>@alpha2betaomega<\/em> (over 106000\u00a0followers and 38\u00a0million\u00a0views); <em>@poseidon_008<\/em> (67000\u00a0followers and 116\u00a0million\u00a0views), <em>@politicamoldoveneasca25<\/em> (over 52000\u00a0followers and 58\u00a0million\u00a0views), and <em>@imiplacemd<\/em> (over 42000\u00a0followers and 42\u00a0million\u00a0views).<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The most popular <strong>media sources<\/strong> are \u0422\u0421\u0412\u00a0\u041f\u0440\u0438\u0434\u043d\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0440\u043e\u0432\u044c\u0435 (over 267000\u00a0followers and 289\u00a0million views); TV6 (over 211000\u00a0followers and 298\u00a0million views); \u041f\u0435\u0440\u0432\u044b\u0439 \u041f\u0440\u0438\u0434\u043d\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0440\u043e\u0432\u0441\u043a\u0438\u0439 (over 61000\u00a0followers and over 37\u00a0million views), Moldova\u00a02.0 (over 48000\u00a0followers and 18\u00a0million views), and Primul in Moldova (over 45000\u00a0followers and 26\u00a0million views).<\/p>\r\n<\/td>\r\n<\/tr>\r\n<\/tbody>\r\n<\/table>\r\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Let us provide an analysis of the most prominent narratives in the content published by the monitored channels.<\/strong>\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Moldovan soldiers who \u201clost their lives\u201d in Ukraine: a fake that gathered over 1<\/strong><strong>million views<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The fake about the \u201cdeath of Moldovan soldiers in Ukraine\u201d which we also mentioned at the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/mediacritica.md\/naratiunile-de-dezinformare-pe-tiktok-in-context-preelectoral-propaganda-conspirationista-retorica-antioccidentala-si-delegitimarea-statului\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawMBtZFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFRNzdiRDJ2WEx4cm56QzUyAR6yh2fMhQk6sA2q78Sz3ZPQ4V8ln_paBsJgQeNcVt5Mwb2FJ_tnmyW2wNoTdg_aem_f1Xhx3bA--yKUfOFcrWsRw\">beginning of the previous month<\/a><\/u> was seen by hundreds of thousands of TikTok users since July\u00a015. In spite of the fact that the Ministry of Defense disproved this information, it continued to appear both on the politicians\u2019 pages and on a network of anonymous accounts.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Initially, it was a single video which quickly gained over 222000\u00a0views: it stated that \u201cthey have already sent our soldiers to Ukraine. The consequences are tragic, Moldovan soldiers have lost their lives.\u201d In mid-July, we detected at least 50\u00a0more videos promoting this hoax on TikTok, all of them included the hashtag #<em>\u043c\u044b\u043d\u0435\u0445\u043e\u0442\u0438\u043c\u0443\u043c\u0438\u0440\u0430\u0442\u044c<\/em> (i.e. \u201cwe do not want to die\u201d), which clearly demonstrates that this manipulative content was spread in a coordinated way. Together, these videos gathered over 1.3\u00a0million views before they were deleted from the platform by the administrators or by those who had published them.<\/p>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-51397 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"797\" height=\"778\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1.png 797w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-300x293.png 300w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-768x750.png 768w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-380x371.png 380w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-20x20.png 20w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-190x185.png 190w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok1-1-760x742.png 760w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 797px) 100vw, 797px\" \/>\r\n\r\nSome of the videos included AI-generated elements as well as manipulative images dating back, for instance, to\u00a02020.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-51400 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1536\" height=\"563\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-300x110.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-1024x375.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-768x282.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-380x139.jpg 380w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-20x7.jpg 20w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-190x70.jpg 190w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-760x279.jpg 760w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok2-1-1140x418.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1536px) 100vw, 1536px\" \/>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On July\u00a016, Vasile Tarlev, President of the Viitorul Moldovei Party,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@vasile.tarlev\/photo\/7527585152088952070\"> published<\/a> two statements (in Romanian and in Russian) on TikTok claiming that the Republic of Moldova was being \u201cinvolved into a foreign war.\u201d According to him, this conclusion was based on the information from \u201cnumerous media publications and online resources with millions of subscribers\u201d which had reported on the alleged \u201cdeath of 10\u00a0Moldovan soldiers in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The narrative regarding the war is a common topic in the speeches by the pro-Russian politicians. For instance, ex-President Igor Dodon, in his speech <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@igor.dodon.md\/video\/7529905840875261189\">published<\/a><\/u> on TikTok declares that he formed an electoral bloc for the 2025\u00a0parliamentary elections in order to \u201csave the country from poverty, death, and war.\u201d<\/p>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<strong>2. Opening polling stations for the diaspora and the narrative according to which the diaspora in Russia suffers from discrimination<\/strong>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The narrative about the alleged election fraud has been relaunched, this time under the pretext of \u201cdiscrimination against Moldovan citizens in the Russian Federation.\u201d After the Central Election Commission\u00a0(CEC) published the preliminary list of eventual polling stations to be opened for the September 28\u00a0elections for public consultation, a number of critical reactions emerged on TikTok. Some blamed the authorities for opening only two polling stations in Russia for \u201cpolitical\u201d reasons.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The videos on this topic were often presented in contrast to the alleged privileges granted to the diaspora in the West, thus spreading a narrative of social polarization. In this way, they create an impression that citizens are divided into two categories (some are privileged, while the others are being discriminated against) and treated unfairly by the state.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is important to mention that a similar number of polling stations were opened in\u00a02024, including in Russia, Ukraine, and Israel, the countries affected by armed conflicts. The authorities in Chisinau justified this decision by explaining that it was difficult to provide logistical and security conditions in the other cities of the Russian Federation.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">@sergiu_de_moldova, an account with over 70000\u00a0followers and 1.9\u00a0million likes, belongs to a person involved in propaganda activity and promoting the narratives of the Russian Federation on a permanent basis. His messages are often in line with those published by other content creators with a similar agenda. In a video <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@sergiu_de_moldova\/video\/7530385446136794375\">published<\/a><\/u> on July\u00a024, Sergiu erroneously affirms that, according to the authorities, \u201cabout 390000\u00a0Moldovans reside in the Russian Federation, and they enjoy the same full rights.\u201d In addition, he emphasizes that \u201chundreds of polling stations will be opened in Europe,\u201d whereas Moldovans in Russia are allegedly discriminated against.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It should be noted that there is no exact data on the actual number of Moldovan citizens residing in Russia. However, during the first round of the 2024\u00a0elections, approximately 8000\u00a0persons voted at the two available polling stations in Moscow.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another estimate of the number of Moldovan citizens residing in the Russian Federation (approximately\u00a0500000) was mentioned by Nina Dimoglo, an activist affiliated with the former Sor Party. According to her, \u201cthere are no relevant reasons for reducing the number of polling stations in Moscow,\u201d and \u201cMoldovans\u2019 voting in Russia leaves the PAS no chance of winning.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-51403 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" data-sizes=\"auto\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-20x11.jpg 20w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-190x107.jpg 190w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-760x428.jpg 760w, https:\/\/cji.md\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/tiktok3-1-1140x641.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bogdan Tirdea, a socialist deputy promoting pro-Kremlin narratives,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@tsirdea\/video\/7528507265243024646\"> claims<\/a> in this connection that the PAS is preparing a \u201cprovocation\u201d due to which Moldovans from the Western diaspora would allegedly declare that they were illegally registered on the electoral lists in Russia.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Suspicions concerning such registrations actually existed in\u00a02024. At that time, Angelica Caraman, President of the CEC, spoke about suspicious requests for voter registration in the Russian Federation, multiple requests sent from the same email address, and appearances of email addresses with similar names.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fantastic10007\/video\/7528697374252829974\">video<\/a><\/u> published by <em>@fantastic10007<\/em>, an anonymous channel with over 145000\u00a0followers, a woman apparently representing the diaspora from Russia, recites a poem in which she emphasizes that the diaspora in Russia is also valuable. She says that, due to the political context, this diaspora is regarded in a different way, and that its financial support and contributions are not sufficiently valued in the Republic of Moldova. At one point, she compares choosing between Moldova and Russia to choosing between the mother and the father.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fantastic10007\/video\/7531273948261125398\">video<\/a><\/u> on the same channel which has over 46000\u00a0views, a sequence from a news broadcast by Moldova\u00a024 is presented: it reports on Moldovan citizens\u2019 protest in Moscow, at the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova. The protesters are dissatisfied with the intention of the authorities in Chisinau to open only two polling stations in the Russian Federation. The reporter on the spot seems to be acquainted with the persons who are invited to speak and offers them the microphone in a selective manner. Those interviewed affirm that their right to vote is restricted, saying that they would like to see a total change of the current governance, stating, \u201cWe\u2019d like to change everything, absolutely everything.\u201d One of the participants claims that the situation in Moldova keeps deteriorating, that \u201cLGBT is what matters most,\u201d and family values are disregarded, concluding that \u201cMoldova has no future.\u201d Another woman mentions that she would like to return to the country freely, but currently, it is impossible. Another protest participant says that the current government is afraid of the diaspora, and that, though she does not expect the authorities to take their requests into account, she has heard from some other Moldovans abroad (including from those residing in the West) that they no longer support Maia Sandu, and that they are eager to vote for those who can \u201cdefend Moldova,\u201d so that Moldovans could return to their country and have a better life at home. At the end of the report, the journalist remarks that, according to data provided by the Russian Federation, approximately 500000\u00a0Moldovans reside there, whereas the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova indicates a number of about\u00a0350000. In this context, she asks a rhetorical question, \u201cWhat about the other\u00a0150000?\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@primulinmoldova\/video\/7531057491610766648\">video<\/a><\/u> published on <em>@primulinmoldova<\/em>, the channel with over 45000\u00a0followers, a woman expresses her opinion about the voting rights of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia. According to her, Moldovans in Russia are not inferior to those residing in Europe; they have the same rights as everyone else, and are eager to vote. The central message is that the Moldovan diaspora in Russia feels marginalized and discriminated against compared to that residing in Europe. The woman also describes life in Russia, especially in the Kursk Oblast near the border with Ukraine as relatively calm, and says that the locals do not suffer from any bombings or alarms, despite the general perception. In addition, she emphasizes that many Moldovans choose Russia because of historical, cultural, and linguistic connections and because they find it easier to adapt.<\/p>\r\n<strong>3. The diaspora\u2019s disappointment with the European countries and the narrative that the EU exploits them<\/strong>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The narratives related to the diaspora in Russia are accompanied by stories and opinions regarding the Western diaspora\u2019s disappointment with the government in Chisinau and the statement that the European Union is merely using Moldovans\u2019 labor and taxes to support Moldova superficially.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@fantastic10007\/video\/7531771398843354390\">video <\/a><\/u>with over 186000\u00a0views published by <em>@fantastic10007<\/em>, an anonymous account, shows a meeting attended by a number of people. A man starts speaking and tells the audience about an alleged previous meeting with President Maia Sandu, during which, according to him, he asked her several questions, but no answers followed. Some of these questions were related to the high price for gas in Moldova and having to pay for obtaining a driver\u2019s license in Germany in spite of the fact that driving licenses were supposedly equivalent. It is not clear who he is exactly addressing or which sources of information he refers to. However, according to him, he was told at that meeting that \u201cit\u2019s Putin who is to blame,\u201d which causes laughter among the audience. The video, taken out of context, emphasizes the idea of the diaspora\u2019s dissatisfaction the current governance.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The same narrative was developed by <em>@sergiu_de_moldova<\/em>, Nina Dimoglo, and Bogdan Tirdea, with the \u201csupport\u201d of a manipulative article published by Affaritaliani, an Italian daily newspaper. Its text, together with the basic Kremlin narratives, mentions that Maia Sandu is a dictator who bans political parties associated with Ilan Sor from taking part in the elections, also putting pressure on Evghenia Gutul who is likely to become the \u201copposition leader.\u201d Besides, citing some \u201canonymous sources close to Maia Sandu,\u201d the author of the publication makes direct speculative and biased accusations against the head of the state.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The author\u2019s controversial point of view was <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@sergiu_de_moldova\/video\/7530920996723854600\">presented<\/a><\/u> by <em>@sergiu_de_moldova<\/em> \u201cas an opinion of a part of Europe, probably the majority.\u201d The same idea is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@tsirdea\/video\/7531019638126300422\"> emphasized<\/a> by Bogdan Tirdea who affirms that \u201cthe Europeans already understand who Maia Grigorievna is,\u201d and Nina Dimoglo, summarizing the article, <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@ninadimoglo\/video\/7531342219790273848\">affirms<\/a><\/u> that, \u201cwith Maia Sandu, we\u2019ll have to kiss Europe goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@morari.live\/video\/7530184975623195909\">video<\/a><\/u> with over 15000\u00a0views, which includes a fragment of a show hosted by Gheorghe Gonta, Vasile Costiuc invited as a guest is asked whether the diaspora in the West could be the decisive factor during the upcoming elections. He replies that he has personally discussed this issue with Moldovans residing in France and says that they should not be blamed for the fact that they left the country many years ago, and they find it difficult to assess the current realities in the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, Costiuc shares the idea that the \u201cPAS infrastructure\u201d presumably exists in the Western diaspora: according to him, it is a system via which Moldovans in the West obtain exclusively the information favorable to the current governance. He considers that they supposedly read nothing but pro-government content and, therefore, idolize Maia Sandu. Costiuc affirms that the former democratic leader intentionally allowed arresting himself in order to return to the Republic of Moldova and to reintegrate into political life. His account has almost 80000\u00a0followers and over 2.7\u00a0million likes.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another narrative<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@bulgacion\/video\/7529849219989933317\"> published<\/a> by Ion Bulgac, the counselor of Mayor Ion Ceban, suggests that there is an alleged secret cooperation between the PAS and Vlad Plahotniuc. He refers to a conversation he allegedly had before the oligarch\u2019s detention, in which it was mentioned that Plahotniuc supposedly intended to reappear in public and to support the PAS by means of attracting votes. Bulgac suggests that his detention was part of a well-planned scheme intended for bringing electoral advantages to the governing party.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another theory in a <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@primulinmoldova\/video\/7531044552912702726\">video<\/a><\/u> channel (over 42000\u00a0views), suggests that <strong>Vlad Plahotniuc presumably owns some compromising information concerning various political entities in Moldova<\/strong>. This hypothesis supports the idea of the political class having generalized discomfort about his eventual return.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In another <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@primulinmoldova\/video\/7531059157416283448\">video<\/a><\/u> published by the same channel (@primulinmoldova), with over 17000\u00a0views, a lawyer expresses doubts about Plahotniuc\u2019s eventual quick extradition. For instance, the politician criticizes the values of the European Union and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@victoria.furtuna.rm\/video\/7531840844408655160\"> remarks<\/a> that \u201cour Moldova should not choose between the EU and its own values, it should remind Europe what Europe means.\u201d By using this manipulative method, Furtuna creates a false contradiction between European integration and keeping national identity, and presents the European Union as a threat to the traditional family and faith.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She also praises the MEGA conference as an example of \u201ctrue democracy\u201d as opposed to the current governance which she describes as dictatorial and repressive. They laugh and mock the party, saying: \u201cDon\u2019t you idiots from the PAS even look at those you give your brochures about Europe to? You\u2019ve taken from the farmers the last things they had. Persistence of classic narratives and their amplification due to the new events. <\/strong>Well-known narratives are still intensely promoted, and they get adapted to the recent events; it demonstrates the disinformation ecosystem\u2019s resilience and adaptability to the current political and geopolitical events.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Disinformation is supported by a heterogeneous network of entities and is often coordinated. <\/strong>Synchronized use of hashtags and recurrent topics suggest that coordinated influence campaigns are being conducted.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. Disinformation exploits identity and geographical tensions, fueling polarization among citizens. <\/strong>The narratives concerning discrimination against the diaspora in Russia vs. favoring the diaspora in the West cause a false opposition between the East and the West, fueling supposed injustice, marginalization, and the sense of abandonment.
