Amplifying minority voices: advancing inclusive, human rights-based media on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River

  • Project duration: July 2026 – February 2027
  • Donor: UN Human Rights Moldova (OHCHR) under the EU-funded project “Strengthening the rights of minorities in the Republic of Moldova” (Phase II)
  • Purpose: The project aims to strengthen the professional capacities of journalists and media representatives from both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River, with a particular focus on ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia, to produce human rights-compliant, inclusive media content that promotes the rights and fair representation of minorities and other marginalized groups.
  • Activities: The project will train 25 journalists and media representatives from both banks of the Dniester /Nistru River, with a particular focus on ATU Gagauzia and Taraclia, on human rights-based and inclusive journalism, with a focus on ethical reporting on minorities and marginalized communities. Following a competition, several of the trained journalists will be selected to receive editorial mentorship and technical support and publish high-quality, human rights-complaint media content that promotes the rights of minorities, inclusion, and the fair representation of marginalized groups.
