The participants of the Moldova Media Literacy Forum adopted a resolution on the importance of continuing efforts to promote media literacy

On September 17, 2021, the teachers who participated in the first media education forum in Moldova – Moldova Media Literacy Forum – adopted a resolution emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to promote media literacy among pupils, young people, and parents.
The teachers agreed that Media Education is an extremely important school subject in the age of digitalization, which helps the young generation feel safe online, avoid information traps, and develop their capacity for analysis and critical thinking.
In this context, the forum participants called on the Ministry of Education and Research to ensure the cooperation of state authorities at different levels in order to ensure the quality of the educational process in teaching Media Education; explore opportunities to integrate media literacy into the curricula of other school subjects, including through an inter- and trans-disciplinary approach to the media; and initiate a platform for dialogue with civil society, experts, teachers, as well as other actors interested in developing and implementing educational policies with the aim to increase the rational use of media by children, teenagers, young people, and parents.
