The teachers who participated in the second edition of the Moldova Media Literacy Forum on October 26, 2023 adopted a resolution reconfirming the importance of strengthening efforts to promote media education in order to develop critical thinking among students, young people and parents.

The participants emphasized that in the 21st century media education is a valuable discipline that offers young people the opportunity to learn how to develop their analysis and critical thinking skills or how to feel safe in the online environment.

In this context, the forum participants ask the Ministry of Education and Research to continue supporting the opportunities to integrate media education into the curricula of other school disciplines, including through the inter- and transdisciplinary approach to media. Also, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Culture, the Broadcasting Council, as well as other relevant public authorities are urged to continue the dialog with civil society, experts, teachers, as well as other interested actors in order to develop public policies to support the programs and activities of media and information literacy in order to develop and strengthen the citizens’ skills of critical thinking and rational use of media.
